28 Weeks

I feel like a college kid who just aced my final exam.

I studied. I prepared. I ate high protein, low sugar for weeks. I drank gallons upon gallons of water. I took the meds. And I ACED my glucose test! That's big news to me because that means I do not have to do my own finger pricking for at least 2 more weeks when I get tested again. My fingers can rest in peace...for now.

On to the babies...

They good. They big. They trying to escape via the bellybutton. I stuck a band-aid on it so that should hold them in for a while.

They cute, too.

The Real Housewives of Glynn County

I think there's good reason why wolves have always been my favorite animal (despite the fact that they are very dog-like and I'm not a dog person AT ALL...weird).

They run in packs.

I, too, am a pack person. Always have been.

And my packs have always had names.

In elementary school, it was "The 3 Musketeers": Emily, Megan, and myself. We dressed alike - even down to the shoes. We liked the same music (New Kids on the Block!!). We slumber partied together most weekends and were, as much as elementary girls can be, best buds.

In high school, it was "The Posse": Lauren, Karen, Erin, Kelly, and myself. We were all athletic (though in different sports) which was the major pull behind us getting together. We spent every available Friday and Saturday night together. We even all worked at the same restaurant so we could all be together. I think we even shared some boyfriends across the lines. All but 2 of us went to different colleges, which led to....

At UGA, it became "The Fearsome Foursome": Karen (a Posse member), Alicia, Lisa, and myself. We started out as dorm neighbors and never left each other's side, living together until we (they) graduated (some of us were a little late in that arena). We not only shared apartments, but everything else: our lives, our secrets, our clothes, and even our boys! A true sisterhood that still lives on. We even started a journal that travels among the 4 of us to this day.

Now, even as an adult, I'm still running in a pack. We don't all like New Kids On The Block. We're not all athletic. We don't live in the same apartment. And we definitely don't share the boys! But one thing, among many, that we do share is that we're all married. We are all striving to be godly wives to our husbands.

There's a sisterhood code here too. It's called "We pull through for each other when needed." Simple as that. Usually we concoct these plans at our monthly girl's nights. I happened to miss the last one because I was out of town. The result?

A suprise shower given for my soon-to-arrive twin babies. Those sneaky little devils!

Since I'm running in this crazy pack of wolves (ok, more like tiger cubs...or kittens...or hamsters...), I decided the pack needed a name.

Fitting.

Whitney, Kelly, Rebecca, Kara, and Rachael...thank you. I'm honored to be running in your pack.

Since it's been a month...

The 27-week picture. Let's see how far I can stretch this tank top before it pops...especially since I'm measuring 35 weeks. Good glory. And there's still 2 months left.

Hijack Back

Just over a month ago, a certain blog was hijacked. This is a hijack back!

There are more than 14, or 32, or 58 reasons why my wife is tops. Many of those are just for me to say to her...and not in front of this blog-o-world. Yet, I can share that the best thing...best decision...best gift...best wait...of my life has been my life with my wife, Suzanne.

She is beautiful.
She is kind.
She is funny.
She is selfless.
She is my help.
She is my best friend.
She is an exemplary mother.
And so much more.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, SUZANNE!

I love you.

The 26-Week Visit

I make big babies.

Must be a gift.

Or it could be the gestational diabetes test that I DADGUM FLUNKED AGAIN!

Oh well.

The babes each weigh a little over 2 lbs and are incredibly active AT ALL TIMES. It is a rarity to not have movement going on in there at any given moment. And if they do settle down, Big Brother will come scream into my tummy, "HEY BABIES!! HEY BABIES!!" and the bouncing begins again.

I am 26 weeks (6 1/2 months) though am measuring 34 weeks (8 1/2 months) and I surely feel every bit of 8 1/2 months preggers. Even had a lady at the hardware store today say, "Woooo, you sure look like you're about to pop!" When I told her thanks for the endearing compliment but I still had 2+ months to go, her mouth fell open.

Love that honesty of a pure stranger.

It's hard to see the babies in the ultrasounds as they get bigger because it's just one big smushed area. We can see parts of each of them, but getting a good picture of each of their full body's is harder since they're scrunched. So we end up seeing Baby Girl's legs and Baby Boy's head in the same picture. We did get to see a cute picture of Baby Girl resting her head on Baby Boy's chest - of course separated by a membrane of something or other. It was sweet.

Now we're on to the every 2-week appointments and keeping good checks on the blood sugar so these babies don't grow to be 10 pounders....each.

Space

I think we've upped the value of our home by adding this additional room in the backyard.
Mrs. Debbie comes over every week to do art projects with the kiddos. This week, since we have no useable kitchen (aka project headquarters), she decided to bring some "room" with her and threw a tent up in the backyard.
The perfect idea!!
I wonder if we can consider our house a 4 bedroom now since I'm planning on moving out there. And once I move out there, I won't be moving back in because I won't be able to get my elephant-sized self off the floor of that tent.
No worries. The kiddos can fend for themselves.
And speaking of no useable kitchen, we moved the kids' little craft table smack in the middle of our family room and that's where the family is eating our meals.
Do you hear the violin playing? Do you feel sorry for us yet???
Well DON'T because this home renovation will be done within days and I'm going to be one happier pregger (because maybe or maybe not there could have been some moodiness on a daily basis living in this state of affairs...that's just a maybe though).
Can't post the before/after shots until it's completely done...so those will come after this weekend. Yippee!!
